Welcome to North Pennines National Landscape
The North Pennines National Landscape is one of England’s most wild and ecologically diverse protected areas, officially recognised as a UNESCO Global Geopark. Its open heather moors, peatlands, rivers, woodlands and hay meadows support rare species and critical ecosystem services including carbon storage, water regulation and habitat connectivity.
The landscape team’s work is guided by the Management Plan and spans nature recovery, peatland restoration, biodiversity monitoring, community engagement and heritage interpretation, fostering deep connections between people and nature. The UNESCO Geopark status amplifies opportunities for educational collaboration, sustainable tourism and cross-sector partnerships that deliver ecological and social outcomes.
Corporates can invest in peatland restoration or support hay meadow enhancement, youth education initiatives and other nature-based climate solutions, all contributing to measurable biodiversity and ESG achievements.
