Welcome to Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths National Landscape

Stretching from the Stour estuary to Kessingland, this landscape supports vital wetland, heath and forest ecosystems, including several National Nature Reserves and numerous Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

The sandy heaths of the Sandlings and tidal estuaries of the Blyth, Deben and Alde/Ore rivers are refuges for rare bird species and butterflies, underpinning strong ecological value.

For business, the area’s combination of coastal processes, biodiversity richness, outdoor recreation and heritage offers robust opportunities for regenerative marine and coastal projects, nature-based climate solutions, and sustainable tourism that enhance local economies and deliver measurable natural capital benefits.
